Written and directed by Sonejuhi Sinha, LOVE COMES LATER, the short film, was one of ten short films chosen in official competition at Semaine De La Critique at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and screened at over 70 festivals around the world.

SYNOPSIS:

LOVE COMES LATER is a punk version of the immigrant story, about a woman who is forced into a life of crime in order to become American. She is forced to steal in order to get her personal belongings back but one petty theft spirals into the next – setting off a domino of violent events, ultimately causing her downfall.

LOVE COMES LATER is about the flawed idea of the “American Dream” – one that sets people up to fail regardless of how hard they try. It’s a look at how America treats immigrants and the poor, with the hope of inspiring honest, important conversations.
But at the heart of it – this is a story about love and fear: two of the most primal emotions that drive us all as human beings.
